The inaugural function of ‘Nirdhar Darshan’ was held this afternoon at Indoor Stadium Kohima with Chairman, Kohima Municipal Council, Menuovilie as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the organisers for coming all the way to the state capital to remind the people about the freedom movement of our country. He said that the exhibition makes us remember the sacrifices made by the heroes for the freedom of India. The various exhibitions on display included the model of the British Rifle Enfield (7 feet high and weighing 16 kgs) which the British Ordinance Department had procured for the Indian Army and which had triggered the 1857 War of Independence. The model of the uniform worn by Subhas Chandra Bose is also on display including model of the Spinning Wheel used by Mahatma Gandhi and model of the noose used for hanging.
The inaugural function was chaired by ADC Kohima, Zeneituo Yona and was attended by school students, media persons and other officials.
The exhibition is being organised by the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Maharashtra and will conclude on 12th May 2008. |
