In the Bye-Election to fill up the vacancy caused by the resignation of T.R. Zeliang who was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly held on 26th June 2008 all the 60 MLAs cast their votes. The counting was taken up at 5 p.m. on 26th June 2008.

            The details of votes polled against each candidates were as follows:

1.         Khekiho Zhimomi, NPF            -           36 votes

2.         Kewekhape Therie, INC          -           24 votes

            Khekiho Zhimomi was duly declared elected to fill up the vacancy in the Rajya Sabha for the State of Nagaland. The tenure of term will come to an end by 2.4.2010.
