| World Aids Day Observed At Kisama |

The World Aids Day function was held today, 1st December 2008 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, organised by the U. S. Consulate Kolkata, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) and Naga Mothers’ Association. Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu in his speech said that today the HIV positive people are leading a healthy life with the help of new medication and said that this Anniversary offers an opportunity to highlight the achievements made so far. Stating that the Government has committed to give full support in creating awareness to stop AIDS, he called upon every individual to know their rights and responsibility and fight against this chronic manageable disease. Deputy Director, U. S. Consulate General, Kolkata, Moulik D. Berkana while delivering the keynote address extended his thanks and gratitude to the co-sponsors NSACS and NMA and called upon the participants to celebrate life by helping the HIV positive people to overcome fear and stigma and live a healthy life. The programme was also favoured by special songs presented by NSACS Naga Idol 3.08, Toshinaro. After the function Minister Kuzholuzo and Moulik D. Berkana inaugurated the ‘Photos of Hope’ exhibition at the Red Ribbon Pavilion, Kisama. A week long activities featuring Photo exhibition, Film Screening, Puppet Show and Quiz will continue at the Red Ribbon Pavilion Naga Heritage, Kisama. |
