1st Round Of IPPI Held Across Nagaland PDF Print E-mail

Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland state observed the 1st round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) on 10th January 2010. The state-wide campaign was kickstarted by Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary (H&FW) who administered the first drops of OPV at a Polio booth set up at the High School Junction, Kohima, at 7.30 in the morning.
            All children 0-5 years were administered polio drops in 2519 booths spread across the whole state. The campaign in the state is being held with active participation from the District Administrations, NGOs, Churches as well as general public. The Department of Health & Family Welfare is also conducting house-to-house polio campaign throughout the state on 11th & 12th January 2010, to cover any non-immunized cases. Zeneituo Angami, ADC, Kohima, representing the District Administration, NGO representatives, as well as Senior Officials and staff of H&FW Department were present at the function. It may be mentioned that since 1997, there has been no active Polio cases in Nagaland.
